Fitzgerald

Welcome to the Fitzgerald Class Page

'Ella'- A Collaborative Art Project Completed by Fitzgerald Class

Here in Fitzgerald Class we take our name from one of the most famous American jazz singers of the twentieth century, Ella Fitzgerald. Born in 1917, Ella went on to inspire generations, including some our favourite modern singers.

This year our teacher is Mrs Johnson and we are lucky to be joined by Mrs Holmes and Mrs Chapman.

Summer 2022

In our Classroom we have been...

The Hobbit

The M&M Productions Theatre Group visited school today, and we were treated to a performance of the a ‘The Hobbit’. Everyone loved watching the show, with the wonderful characters, music, songs and scenery. Following the performance Fitzgerald and Stormzy classes took part in a ‘Behind the Scenes’ workshop. During this session the children were able to explore how a show like The Hobbit is put together.

RE - Sacred Buildings

In RE we have been identifying the similarities and differences between the sacred buildings of different faiths. We have discussed the buildings, their main features and their importance within their communities. To support our studies we visited our local village Church, St. Peters, where we met with the Church Warden and spent time learning the history of the church. We particularly liked the stained glass windows and designed our own - our windows were designed to show links to our local environment.

Jubilee Arts Week

In celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, as a school we marked the event with a week dedicated to the Arts. We worked with a local theatre production group to write a verse for the Thomas Eaton Primary Academy Jubilee song and create our own portraits of the Queen. In class we read the "The Queen's Hat" which inspired us to write about our favourite London landmarks and we created our own Jubilee Roses!

Swan Lake

We have just returned from a fantastic trip to London, where we experienced the extravagance and opulence of the Royal Opera House. The class were transfixed watching an amazing performance of Swan Lake.
