Meet the Governors

Welcome to the Thomas Eaton Primary Academy Local Governing Body (LGB).

The LGB exists to:

• Put in place the long term vision and strategic direction of the school
• Monitor the educational performance of the school and its pupils
• Oversee the financial performance of the school and ensure that money is well spent

Our role is to ensure that Thomas Eaton constantly and consistently delivers on its visions and values:  essentially, to ensure that every child achieves the highest possible standards through our relentless focus on high quality teaching and learning.   

The LGB also oversees admission, staff employment and buildings management.

Governor Profiles

Stephen Beacher

 

Graham Lockwood

I was involved in education in Cambridgeshire for 48 years before retiring in 2020. I began my teaching career in Westwood Junior School in March where I remained for 10 years before moving to King Edward School in Chatteris. I worked as a senior leader and, whilst there undertook a year’s acting headship at Townley School in Christchurch.

I became headteacher of Murrow Primary School in 1986, moving in 2000 to become headteacher of Elm Road Primary School in Wisbech. I retired, after 20 years there, in 2020.

During my career I represented primary schools on various committees.   Although these were interesting and worthwhile experiences my heart was always with my schools and the children in them. Making a difference to children’s lives, must be our foremost goal every day.

Katharine Bultitude

I came to Thomas Eaton 8 years ago as a supply teacher, and somehow never left.  I have taught in primary and secondary (I may have taught some of the Thomas Eaton parents when I worked at Neale Wade), in London,  Botswana and schools across Fenland.  I currently teach Year 6, and it was at Thomas Eaton, particularly in upper key stage 2, that I rediscovered my love for teaching and my passion for helping children to learn.  The school is now a vibrant and exciting place to work, with fascinating new ideas and a great team of staff.  I am proud to be a part of it as a teacher and a governor.

Anne Appleby

I joined the Governing Body when my son started Year 1, having started in pre-school. I felt it was important for me to do whatever I could to support the school and help the leadership team to provide every pupil with the opportunity to get the best start in their education. Having worked in the Banking Industry for 20 years and then Market Research for 2, I felt I had skills that I could share. Whenever I visit as part of my role I see happy children absorbed in lessons, eager to share what they have learnt and being given lots of unique opportunities. Thomas Eaton is a great place to part of.
