Autumn Term

On Monday 17th September, Curie Class (Year 3), visited Virgin Atlantic Headquarters ‘The Base’, in Crawley. The children’s visit was linked to their current topic titled ‘Gateways to the World’ which includes the study of airports and aviation. ‘The Base’ is a state of the art facility where pilots and cabin crew go through all their training and provided the children with a wonderful opportunity to gain hands on experience. It also features a life-size mock-up plane which sits right in the middle of the building.

During the course of the day the children were put through their paces and completed cabin crew training including first aid and delivery of the inflight safety talk. They were also able to sit in a cockpit, talk to cabin crew and inflate the life raft.

Curie class showed exemplary behaviour and were great ambassadors for the school. In fact, they were the first primary aged children to visit ‘The Base’ and impressed the staff so much, that Virgin Atlantic are now rethinking their education programme.

Here are a selection of photographs of our fun filled day.
